The Mt. Vernon Police Department currently has forty-six sworn officers, nine telecommunicators and a four member secretarial staff.

Our agency is composed of the following: DETECTIVE DIVISION, K-9 DIVISION, TRAFFIC DIVISION, H.R.T. TEAM, FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM, ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF & CHAPLAIN.

We support the community through our involvement in the D.A.R.E. program, Neighborhood Crime Watch, Crime Stoppers, Elderly Services, National Night Out and the Citizens police Academy.
